So, this is tree #6 and just before you put it in the ground, take a moment to turn it upside
down and look at the tree from the inside out. Yea, it's hollow and that is what has made it
such real easy access while the tree was under construction. Now when you try this on your
own, try using paper wrapped "twist ties" to fasten the seedlings to the wire frame, this will
reduce the space between the trees and will facilitate a quicker fusing process. (I used plastic
cable tie wraps on this tree and those spaced the seedlings to far apart, but the seedlings are
still closer together than when I built a tree using the wooden form process.)
As it stands, I believe that this tree will fuse in 12-18 months. If you use smaller wires, like
twist ties, and put the trees even closer together, the seedlings could fuse in as little as 6-12
months. I ran out of seedlings after tree #6 was made, so I will have to wait until the summer
of 2002 or January of 2003 to start Trident # 7 using the smaller wire or "twist ties".
Glad I've learned patience in Bonsai....Wait, that's crap....I want to start one NOW!
