Once a month a group of bonsai enthusiast get together to work on bonsai trees all day and eat some BBQ beef. We usually meet on the third Saturday of the month. There is no formal leader for this group and there is no fee for this event. All you need to bring is your trees, tools, turntable, wire, soil and pots. All other facility is provided. For lunch we fire up the BBQ featuring mesquite charcoal. (No briquettes allowed) Bring your own beef, beverage and another potluck type item to share with others.
There is always a cart waiting at the curb to help you to the bonsai studio with your stuff. The room is heated, well lit and has plenty of power for your carving tools etc. Tables are provided and can be used inside or outside if the weather is nice. (It usually is) There is water and an area to wash out soil, pots and roots, there is compressed air, screens and tubs. The greenhouse is available for after care too.
You can tap into the talent and experience of the individual members of the group to get opinions and constructive suggestions to help you in your decision making process that forms and shapes your tree.
Any one can attend this study group; you only need to be enthusiastic to participate. It is for people at all levels of bonsai experience. Come and learn or come and teach, I my case, both.
